How to dissolve glue?

Post by prospeed » Sun Apr 01, 2018 6:08 pm

Hello,

I have unfortunately glued a small part wrongly on the fireroom.

Anyone who can recommend a solvent to dissolve glue?
Best regards,
Elund

Hi Elund,

In case you have used cyano glue, you have plenty of products enabling dissolving. This one for example: https://www.amazon.fr/Loctite-Detach-Gl ... dpSrc=srch

Maybe you don't need to "de-glue" anything. Do you have a photo of your problem you can share?

Thanks,

BG

I have used this transparent Contact Adhesive 284 from DANA LIM /AS:
http://www.danalim.com/product-catalogu ... hesive-284.

It's one of the two spaces at the rear of the fireroom that should be reversed.

(I am not able to upload an image. I only have the Options tab available. The tab "Upload attachment" is missing)
Best regards,
Elund

Hi Elund, let me check if we can make do by reverting the rear of the box without dissolving anything.

Will let you know

Cheers

I ended up using brake fluid to dissolve the glue.
It's not as strong as acetone, so it will not damage the plastic.

So if you end up in a situation where you have to separate some glued parts,
I can highly recommend brake fluid ;-)

Brake fluid is also suitable for cleaning surfaces for glue.
